Using cutting edge animation we will recreate the glory of passenger pigeons in flight as well as the ruthless ways in which our 19th century ancestors utterly destroyed them.
State-of-the-Art Computer Animation
With vibrant 2D animation, Audubon’s iconic passenger pigeon painting will literally fly off the pages of Birds of America. The physical attributes of the bird, its ability to consume vast quantities of nuts and fly immense distances will be visualized with animated line drawings in the style of da Vinci. CGI animation will recreate the behavior of billions of birds forming a seemingly unified organism as they traversed the sky, able to eclipse the sun for three days straight.
We are working with the Animation Department at the Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy located in Chicago, a state-of-the-art digital media educational institution where students actively work on professional projects as part of their coursework. Tribeca Flashpoint is currently creating 3-D textured pigeons in preparation of animating a short sequence to include in an Academy fundraising reel.
View the Current Promotional Trailer for Martha
The current promotional trailer for the Message from Martha film shows a storyboard sequence that re-enacts John James Audubon's 1813 encounter with billions of passenger pigeons. These images will be the introduction to the story of these pigeons and how they are relevant to today’s conservation challenges.
